FAQs

Q: What qualifications should I look for in a sports dietitian or nutrition coach?

A: When choosing a nutrition coach, look for a Registered Dietitian (RD). A legally protected credential requiring an accredited degree, supervised clinical hours, and a national board exam. A Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) goes further, representing the highest credential in sports nutrition, held by less than 2% of RDs. A PhD in Human Nutrition and Performance indicates doctoral-level research training beyond clinical practice. I hold all three, along with a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification. Meaning I can coach both your nutrition and your training from the same evidence-based foundation.

Q: Can I trust nutrition and fitness advice I find on social media?

A: Social media is flooded with nutrition and fitness content. Unfortunately, most of it is created by people with no formal education, no clinical training, and no accountability. In most places, anyone can legally call themselves a "nutritionist" or "health coach" without a single credential. The result is a constant stream of conflicting advice, fad diets, and fitness trends that feel compelling but have little or no scientific basis.

This is especially dangerous for women in perimenopause and menopause, where hormonal changes create specific, well-documented nutritional and training needs that generic social media advice almost never addresses correctly. Working with a Registered Dietitian and Board-Certified Sports Dietitian means your advice is grounded in peer-reviewed research, held to a professional ethical standard, and built around your individual physiology, not whatever trend is performing well on Instagram this week.
